This role entails developing effective working relationships with colleagues across the firm to include investments, operations and his/her counterparts. This individual will further develop and implement a strategic sales plan which includes identifiable milestones and objectives related to establishing and expanding relationships with institutional clients. Establishing this sales plan will entail attaining agreed-upon targets and maximizing the achievement of new business relationships and market penetration. The Team Leader will be actively involved in supporting the sales team with presentations to existing clients and prospective investors and the follow-up necessary to give investors comfort regarding the firm's experience and capabilities. This support of the sales team requires a deep understanding of the firm's investment products and how these solutions compare to those of its competitors, working closely with the investment teams, product management and cpms to make optimal use of their capabilities.
Candidates will ideally have at least 15 or more years of experience within an asset management firm which works with institutional investors.
He/she must be able to motivate and energize people at all levels and functions to pursue and achieve business goals.
This leadership position will require the ability to attract, retain, mentor and manage top talent and will need to be able to identify the talent necessary to succeed in the future.
Must have a clear and compelling understanding of the future of the business development, which will entail anticipating and articulating market, channel, product, industry, geographic, and economic trends that can impact client engagement.
The ability to drive for results, setting and achieving compelling goals, as well as the grit and attitude found in top-tier sales and service professionals.
Comprehensive knowledge of multiple asset classes including fixed income, equities, privates, solutions and other asset classes. Must have the ability to articulate complex investment processes clearly, knowledgeably and credibly
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success of raising assets on an individual basis. (The ability to build strong relationships at all levels within the organization, as well as with external firms and clients.)
Industry Experience 15+ years
Institutional or equivalent 5+ Years
Management of People 3+ Years
Series 6 or 7, Series 26 or 24
Advanced designations such as: CIMA, CFA, CFP, CEBS, ChFC, CRPC, MBA
Knowledge of Institutional product structures, privates, market and pricing
Strong written skills, strong presentation skills to both large and small groups
Strong knowledge of the Investment Industry and Institutional Market.
Knowledge of product pricing, Back Office operations, relationship management, consultant relations, marketing and sales.
Full resource management responsibility
Decision making for hiring, terminating, training/developing and compensation changes for the team
Collaborate with internal and external resources to meet business needs.
Prioritizing work to ensure that the largest sales opportunities are executed on.
Use segmentation information provided to focus on the opportunities with the greatest future potential in a given territory.
