Under direction of the Vice Provost and Associate Chancellor of Global Affairs and the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, School & Units Programs, the Director of Development contributes to the fundraising efforts in support of Global Affairs, with a primary near-term focus on the Big Idea Global Education for All. Big Ideas will play an integral role in the current comprehensive campaign; they are interdisciplinary initiatives in areas where UC Davis has the unique capacity to be the best.
Key priorities for the Director of Development include building comprehensive development strategies and programs addressing the needs of Global Affairs with focus on major gifts and the engagement of internal and external constituencies. The primary near-term focus is on the Global Education for All Big Idea.
The Director cultivates, stewards, and solicits from existing donor pool and qualifies new donor prospects, while also developing donor-related materials, and donor programs/events in collaboration with other Global Affairs and DEVAR staff and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expert knowledge and experience in all aspects of fundraising, donor relations and concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and practices.
Minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience involving managing a major gift portfolio, including developing and implementing individualized prospect strategies. Demonstrated success in securing major gifts of at least $50,000 or more.
Experience using written, oral, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective working relationship at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies, to interact with diverse domestic and international constituencies and to work collaboratively in teams and with other units of the campus.
Expert project/program management skills, including skill in setting and meeting program/project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints.
Experience working with campus or other institutional leadership on fundraising strategy development, implementation and assessment.
Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills.
Preferred:
Personal experience with global learning and engagement.
Demonstrated experience in working with university-level alumni, community volunteers and/or other donor constituency groups, including creating and implementing group-specific communications, organizing and managing group meetings (in person and/or virtual) and resolving group conflict in a professional manner.
Successful fundraising experience within a major research university.
Excellent knowledge of the university, its achievements, vision, mission, goals, objectives, applicable policies, infrastructure and current issues of concern (or demonstrated capacity to develop this knowledge quickly) and knowledge of issues of concern for higher education generally, in particular its international dimension.
