Job Title: Field Construction Manager

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt/Fulltime

Department: Assistant Branch Manager

Supervisor: Operations Manager

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Summary:

The Construction Manager will oversee the operation of a profit center/s to ensure the growth and profitability of the profit center assigned. Knowledge of commercial and industrial refrigeration, and work place safety, customer relations, accounting processes, bid development and sales are required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned profit center in compliance with established profit levels.
  • Ensure employee compliance with established standards and AOP Goals.
  • Maintain ongoing client relationship and recognize future business opportunities.
  • Provide administration and business support to Foreman, Apprentice, Journeyman, Coordinator, EMS Team and other assigned staff, to ensure compliance with established quality standards and completeness of work performed.
  • Supervise and/or develop the information necessary in the bidding process for retaining old and obtaining new commercial refrigeration installation projects.
  • Demonstrate the application of the knowledge of commercial refrigeration installation through supervisory and management practices.
  • Working closely with other project managers based on their assigned customers in the local market.
  • Oversee assigned profit center accounting including job forecasting.
  • Ensure that all project paperwork is handled timely and accurately.
  • Manage all communication amongst the team to foster an open environment of positive communication and teamwork to proactively solve issues and successfully execute the project scope.
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the projects and profit centers operational business.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities per project with foreman, project manager and project coordinators.
  • Determine the client objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
  • Meets or exceed financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, identifying and implementing efficiencies, analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Enhance client relationship through proactive and positive communication, and by recognizing and delivering on client key issues and expectations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Ensure compliance with and conformance to established HP safety/hazard program and environmental objectives.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance program.
  • Ensure that the annual evaluations of employees directly supervised are completed accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that training needs are evaluated with construction foreman and provided to field employees.
  • Conduct new employee orientation when new employees begin work.
  • Willing to travel (up to 20% of the time) when required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management or foreman level.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • BA or BS degree in technical or construction education program desired, but not required.
  • Refrigeration knowledge and background is must.
