Job Summary:

The Mountain Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. The team performs comprehensive financial planning, forecasting and analysis to enable the company to align its resources with the achievement of its strategic goals- both long term and short term. The Mountain Finance team works closely with the resort leadership and management team, along with the broader corporate Finance organization in Broomfield, CO.

The Principal Analyst of FP&A is a major player in the Mountain Resort Management team, responsible for driving budget planning (capital and expense), forecasting and reporting aligned with the common goals of the Mountain COO's and Corporate Financial Planning. The Principal Analyst will report to the Director of Finance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with department managers to prepare financial forecasts, budgets and planning materials for Heavenly
  • Provide financial analysis support for the business managers and Director of Finance to support Real Time and longer-term strategic decision making
  • Run transaction and sales detail reports to verify data and financial reporting accuracy
  • Drive financial and performance measurement criteria to assist business partners within the operations
  • Prepare monthly waterfalls and variance explanations for Corporate Finance and Accounting
  • Review and give feedback to managers on monthly financial results
  • Continuously look to improve forecast accuracy and financial knowledge within the resort
  • Proactively communicate with managers, the COO and the Mountain Finance team with ideas and recommendations
  • Produce financial analysis to aid in critical business decision-making
  • Support the Director of Finance in the financial management of the resort
  • Coordinate the financial process for Heavenly
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and annual capital budgets in conjunction with managers and other analysts
  • Prepare monthly forecasts
  • Provide business support and ad hoc financial analysis
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports for managers, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Monitor & coordinate the capital expenditure process
  • Anticipate changes in the business and advise on efficiencies and improvements
  • Assure accounting practices are followed by all managers
  • Juggle multiple priorities, be comfortable with change, take initiative, work within tight deadlines

Job Requirements:

  • 4 years of previous finance/accounting experience
  • Previous experience as a financial analyst
  • Proven strong financial analysis and modeling skills, self-started, pro-active, detail-oriented, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong communication
  • Expert level skills in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Skills:

  • Finance and accounting degree
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft or other ERP systems
