Under general guidance from the Faculty Director and the Executive Committee, develops the strategic direction and manages day-to-day operations for the Global Migration Center (GMC), and the development and expansion of its programs, initiatives and personnel. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and/or reviewing policy; supporting grant writing and management; managing inter-institutional relationships; engaging with local, state, and national policy makers on complex and politically sensitive collaborations and research exchanges; managing seminars, workshops, and conferences that support the mission and vision of GMC; and building the center brand and awareness via social media platforms.
Lead the preparation of policy reports and manuscripts summarizing and popularizing the research of the Affiliates of the Center. Collaborate with Office of Research staff and stakeholders to generate grant proposals involving research of Affiliates of the Center. Provide support in researching grant opportunities, and oversight of grant proposal development process. Coordinate and direct grant pre/post award activities; and coordinate with Grants and Contracts Services Manager on submissions, reporting, data collection, and compliance management. Work with the PI and the research team to ensure implementation of compliance with policies and processes. Serve as liaison between the PI, research team/collaborators, and administration.

-Work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.
-Frequent travel across campus utilizing personal vehicle. Out of state travel may be required as Center advances.
-Limited vacation during events and peak periods.
-Work in an area where there is constant traffic and noise from office machines, telephones, and conversations
-UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.
-Bachelors degree in relevant field and/or equivalent experience.
-Scientific and technical skills to comprehend, interpret and produce reports on quantitative and qualitative research on migration issues to assess alternative policies, recommendations, and change strategies.
-Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative process, including organization procedures and the budget and appropriations processes.
-Ability to read and interpret pending legislation to assist with drafting position statements and proposed legislation.
-Knowledge of research administration specifically pertaining to the preparation, review, and submission of proposals- including federal, state, and private- for contracts or grants.
-Experience of the content and structure of standard calls for proposals from multiple federal and state agencies as well as private and corporate foundations and experience of multiple sponsors proposal preparation and submission requirements and advanced skills to interpret complex sponsor requirements.
-Project management experience using organizational and time-management skills to prioritize task and anticipate needs, coordinate many details of multiple projects simultaneously, to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities, to meet operational goals and tight deadlines.
-Masters degree in one of the areas of research of the Center. Experience in policy and planning or research related to international migration.
-Experience with university-based research concepts, principles, and conduct of research.
-Knowledge of campus policies and procedures to interpret inquiries and requests to formulate appropriate action or response including automated financial and accounting systems.
-Financial, accounting, analytical skills to manage all phases of the grant cycle.
