*Job ID:* 16006.*EMS Coordinator*.*Summary:* Under the direction of the Executive Director Emergency Services, the Coordinator EMS is responsible for the coordination and implementation of EMS education and programs including maintenance of EMS website. The Coordinator supports hospital programs including chest pain and stroke that affect and connect the community and EMS with Akron General Medical Center in order to support AGMC's service lines of emergency services, heart & vascular, and wellness. Works to improve coordination of EMS services and provide continuing education for pre-hospital providers and other health care professionals. The Coordinator is responsible for promoting AGMC as a tertiary referral center by establishing and maintaining relationships with referring agencies, EMS agencies, and community members throughout the region. The Coordinator works closely with the Medical Directors of each of the EMS services.Develops a strategic plan to improve alignment of AGMC directed EMS squads and to recruit other area squads..*Responsibilities:* + Annually develops a capital and operating budget with the assistance of the Executive Director of Emergency Services. + Coordinate, develop or implement continuing education programs for purposes of EMS re-certification, enhancement of relationships for local or surrounding EMS agencies; develop and coordinate EMS Lecture Series to be held every other month. Develop a program to video tape all EMS Lectures to be streamed/played at all Fire Departments under AGMC's Medical Direction for continuing education + Maintain records and provide reporting as required by the Ohio Division of EMS for all continuing education courses provided. Works cooperatively with the assigned Emergency Medicine Physician over EMS continuing education. + Monitor ODPS EMS continuing education site requirements and maintains files and prepares for site inspection + Serve on various Summit County committees and EMS Advisory Committees and other committees as required, represents AGMC on ARHA Ambulance Re-stocking Committee. Attends State EMS Board meetings and Education Committee meetings to be alert to any changes in state policy or procedure. + Facilitates feedback communication with EMS agencies that transport/refer patients to Akron General Medical Center; works with the Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center to facilitate feedback to EMS services that transport patients to AGMC. + Maintain relationships with EMS and referring facilities in the region through regular visits, conducting assessments and providing feedback on admitted + patients + Assist with course off erings specific to various patient populations (BLS, ACLS, ATLS) + Review, communicate and coordinates with the Director of Paramedic Education or Medical Director of any Emergency Medical Services regarding any complaints or quality issues related to EMS + Participate in educational conferences and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to areas of responsibility. + Serves as a communication conduit to senior leadership and EMS + Works to support the role of AGMC in the community as a Level 1 Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center and Certified Stroke Center. Participate in each of these areas of excellence by attending committee meetings to represent EMS. + Complete annual on-going competency requirements. Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain certification/licensure requirements (EMT-P, CPR Instructor, ACLS Instructor, EMS Instructor) + Assist with performance improvement projects of surrounding EMS systems, collects and distributes run reports to various EMS agencies served by AGMC + Coordinates with Materials Management, ED, Pharmacy and Purchasing Department for the exchange of supplies and equipment for EMS Providers. + Monitor and update data to comply with the Akron Regional Hospital Association EMS exchange regulations and provides statistical data as required to the ARHA and the Paramedic Program Director. + Conduct needs assessments of EMS services that transport to AGMC and its Satellites + Plans and implements Mass Casualty Drills involving EMS services and AGMC + Tracks and records the number of transports to AGMC EDs by EMS Services + Develop and maintain website for EMS which has link to on-line CE, as well as coordinated schedule for all CE provided under Akron Generals med control + Other duties as assigned.*Education:* + Paramedic Instructor preferred..*Certifications:* + Current certification as an emergency medical technician or paramedic in the State of Ohio. Ohio EMS Special topics Instructor within 6 months of hire date. Current certification as an ACLS PHTLS/ITLS and TNCC Instructor preferred..*Complexity of Work:* + Knowledge of State EMS grant application processes to assist AGMC EMS services in obtaining grant funding for education and equipment. Ability to be self-directed. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required..*Work Experience:* + Three years clinical experience in trauma care to include emergency, critical care, or transport. Excellent written and verbal/non-verbal communications skills required, as well as experience in public speaking or teaching required.
