Job Summary/Purpose: The Infection Prevention & Control Director provides leadership and support to MUSCHealth in the area of infection control surveillance, detection, improvement and prevention and evidence-based practice; operates an infection prevention and control program that includes education, tracking and reporting, process consultation and improvement and building a system wide infection prevention culture; and designs, implements & directs infection control responsibilities including surveillance, analysis, reporting & recording activities, setting standards in accordance with Federal, State and local standards, regulations and guidelines to ensure that the highest degree of quality care in maintained at all times; is held accountable for complying with all regulatory and accreditation standards within the realm of infection prevention and control; responds to all regulatory and safety investigations and complaints and media inquiries, both announced and unannounced, with regard to infection prevention and control; creates and implements proactive risk reduction strategies to prevent all infection control risks for the clinical enterprise ; evaluates compliance for and is held accountable for practices associated with prevention & control of health care associated infections; The Manager of Infection Control advises and consults with senior leadership and staff on potential sources of infectious diseases and makes decisions on how to eliminate or minimize the impact.

Minimum Training and Education: Master's degree in nursing or health care related field and a minimum of five (5) years of work experience with leadership in infection control. Leadership experience role within a hospital or health care organization required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent public speaking skills. Ability to work well with individuals across a variety of levels. Demonstrated leadership skills in working with individuals and teams. Demonstrated ability to work with or understand data bases, systems opportunities, and statistical analysis.
