As the Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing various warehouse management systems (WMS), participating in design reviews and working with the quality assurance team to understand reported defects from testing. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Develop codes for defects and enhancements to the WMS systems; understand the functionality and configuration of the systems that are being supported
  • Perform unit testing with documented test cases and results
  • Mentor and train other WMS development resources
  • Participate in the review and analysis of business requirements, functional specifications and design documents; participate in project post-mortem facilitation
  • Provide input into management responsibilities, such as reviews, issues/conflicts and organizational processes and procedures
  • Provide input on information technology tools, application upgrades and architectural design
  • Actively participate in continuous process improvement efforts

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or technical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 3 years of experience in IT solutions development, preferably in medium to large systems environments using EDI-driven applications
  • Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Knowledge may include: UNIX, Windows, Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, INFORMIX 4GL, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Angular, JSON, Shell Scripting and Microsoft applications
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, logistics planning, scheduling concepts and general transportation management

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Availability to perform 24/7 on-call duties on a rotational basis
  • Experience in logistics and/or transportation management, business analysis and customer relations
  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage customer expectations
  • Ability to learn, understand and mentor others in the functionality of multiple logistics-related systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
  • Ability to work with nontechnical end users to explain technical concepts
