Process Engineer

Position Summary:

The Plant Process Engineer role is to support the improvement of existing processes, design, install, configure and maintain manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve equipment reliability, and to develop best practices within the production process. The main focus of the process engineer s work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems, while improving quality, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. The process engineer is a part of the plant staff driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions that improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving safety and quality standards.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Support operations by leading and directing technical activities necessary to solve problems encountered from receiving through shipping
  • Ensure the team takes the necessary steps through effective communication and proper documentation to avoid similar problems in the future
  • Develop & maintain process guidelines (SOP) and training programs for the integration of new products and systems
  • Continually strive to reduce process variation (improve process capability) to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to manufacturing standards
  • Lead Cost reduction initiatives through materials, product, and process improvements; assist the project teams to hold brainstorming sessions

Candidate Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Strong preference for increasing experience: High volume, continuous improvement manufacturing environment; Process Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering/CI skills and expertise
  • An analytical approach and results-oriented problem solver
  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Good people skills, and hands-on
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and knowledge of DOE preferred
  • Knowledge of HAACP & SQF requirements and mistake-proofing is desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion
