Job Description

The Construction Remediation Manager will be responsible for the remediation activities at W.R. Grace Libby, Montana site. You will be based in Libby, MT reporting to the Remediation Manager and be responsible for providing leadership and management of contractor resources at remediation sites and travel as needed to attend meetings in other states. You will interact with regulators, legal counsel, technical consultants, and the public to implement cost effective, risk-based construction projects at environmentally impaired sites. In addition, you will establish an office at the project site during active operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of remedial construction projects including cost, schedule, and scope; contract administration; and change management.
  • Effectively manage prime contractors for successful execution, including participating in routine project meetings and maintaining contractor focus on safety, efficient work practices, near term activities and forward planning, including long-lead time procurement.
  • Manage project contractual requirements, including review of payment requests, changes in scope and requests for information.
  • Effectively and proactively address risk management aspects.
  • Provide progress reports to management including safety, cost, schedule, quality and project risks.
  • Manage projects consistent with companies Project Management stage gate process and with Grace Supply Chain processes to procure consultants and contractors.
  • Manage project financial reporting requirements, including preparation of project budgets and spending forecasts.
  • Provide field project oversight during active construction on large civil/capital projects, including quality assurance and safety audits.
  • Implement projects with emphasis on Grace's focus on safety and environmental compliance through all aspects of projects; track relevant metrics and participate in investigations and preventative/corrective actions associated with incidents and near miss events.

Required Skills
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering and construction contractors to deliver scope within budget and on schedule.
  • Knowledge of environmental remediation, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Project® and Primavera P6® or similar scheduling software.

Required Experience
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Construction, Construction Management or similar degree.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience related to large and complex civil or environmental remediation projects.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) certificate and 8-Hour refresher certifications
  • PMP, Yellow Hat Inspection, Certified Construction Manager, HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification
  • Environmental Management experience
