The SPPL Process Engineering team provides engineering support for our line of productized plants, including Adsorption Separation Plants, Electrolysis Plants, and Steam Methane Reforming Plants. Our business supports customers in a diverse range of industries, including metals processing, glass manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, foods processing, electronics manufacturing, and chemical and petrochemical manufacturing, to name a few.
Your second responsibility will be as a plant-wide Process Systems Engineer in our Global Engineering Team. This will be a diverse and technical role with responsibilities, including process flow diagrams for P&ID reviews of both our internal and vendor equipment drawings. You will also participate in developing plant operational logic, hazard reviews, 3D Organizationel reviews, and field commissioning activities. Technologies supported by our team include both high-temperature gas processing plant (hydrogen plants including steam methane reformers and gasifiers and CO2 capture amine-based plants) as well as Cryogenic Hydrocarbon plants (CO and Syngas Cold Boxes, Nitrogen Rejection Units, and Helium Recovery units).
These projects include technical and non-technical interfaces; the scope includes proposal development, engineering, design, equipment selection/procurement, construction management, commissioning, start-up, and turnover. Also, there will be additional travel required to other regional or national locations. The selected individual works closely with multiple groups within North America (NA) Customer Engineering Organization; Asset Team, Product Team, Work Process Team, Equipment Support Team, and teams within the West Business Organization; Logistics, Sales, Marketing, etc. He/she will also receive in-house training and mentorship from the regional Customer Engineering team members.
This individual will be required to demonstrate very high safety performance standards, both while performing activities at system or customer sites and while driving a company vehicle. Field Maintenance & Service Technicians are among those employees with the highest exposure to our customers. As such, all grade levels of Technicians will present a professional appearance, confidence, and demeanor at all times.

Principal accountabilities

Support the conceptual layouts for steel structures
Provide mentorship into the plant design by reviewing the 3D piping Organizationel and overall facility Plot Plan.
Complete detailed design for foundation systems and site prep
Prepare scope of work documents detailing system design criteria and customer versus Institute Products installation roles and responsibilities.
Generate installation cost estimates, bills of materials, detailed equipment layout, foundation, and flow schematic drawings.
Assist the Department in keeping up with national codes and revising in house standards and specifications to suit.
Management assistance of P&IDs, electrical drawings, and site drawings
Attend project & group meetings.
Assist Lead Engineer with project hour estimates and schedule development.
Demonstrate and practice safe handling of hand tools and hand power tools typically and commonly used in installation and maintenance tasks
On-site service support to customers with existing membrane systems
Although not common - occasional international travel may be vital.

Minimum requirements and qualifications

A combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Lead Designer role or position.
Experience with operating plant support, fabrication knowledge, and site construction activities.
Minimum 3 years S3D & Smart-Sketch Civil- Structural Design Experience.
Ability to communicate successfully with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
Must be a self-starter and demonstrate design leadership and oversight of others.
Must show attention to detail and possess the ability to work both independently and in teams.
Information Technology literate with experience in SAP and Microsoft Office programs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
