Title: Senior Hydraulic Engineer - 38757

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, at Des Moines Works, located in Ankeny, IA, you will be the lead for the overall hydraulic/hydrostatic design, PV&V testing support, and hydraulic technical supervisor responsibility for cotton harvesting equipment. In addition, you will:

  • Assist with Product Development Process (PDP) activities related to large chassis cotton picker and stripper hydraulic and hydrostatic systems
  • Integrate crop harvesting and tractor hydraulic and hydrostatic technology into the cotton harvester technology where possible, while providing state of the art hydraulic technology for specific cotton application requirements
  • Interact with a diverse cross-functional team on hydraulic subcomponents as well as team participation and hydraulic leadership with the enterprise hydraulic core technology team
  • Focus on a balance in cost, system efficiency, manufacturing assembly, and supplier selection options
  • Act as the lead engineer on both the hydrostatic and hydraulic aspects for both cotton picker and stripper platforms by assigning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of other engineers
  • Assist product support organization on occasional line runoff booth diagnostic support

What Skills You Need

  • 10 or more years of strong experience with mobile hydraulic design and progressive leadership experience in the hydraulics area
  • Expert experience with designing cost effective state of the art mobile hydraulic systems
  • Experience working with both open and closed center mobile hydraulic systems, some capability to work in a Pro-E/Creo design environment
  • Technical experience to read and create schematic drawings
  • Experience with analyzing hydraulic data, work with supply management to select suppliers, and work with those suppliers to establish duty cycle and life calculations

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with other engineers from other functional areas
  • Experience working with production employees and mechanics
  • General understanding of other mobile hydraulic and hydrostatic functions (especially Harvester functions) as they apply to cotton harvesting
  • Experience using Automation Studio and Easy5 analysis
  • Focused schooling on hydraulics and hydraulic systems

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering
