The Director of Safety provides oversight and administration of the Sundance Safety Management System. Responsible to ensure proper coordination with all departments the details of the SMS program as well as the appropriate Service Providers and Regulatory Authorities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Provide oversight and administration of the Sundance SMS to include:
Direct technical consultant and coordinator in planning, organizing, directing and facilitates the implementation of Safety Management System elements into the operations
Work with and provide guidance to senior management base management teams on safety and risk related activities and mitigations.
Collaborate with operational leadership in identifying, tracking, trending hazards and their risks to flight and operational safety as well as related mitigations for all bases
Provide oversite to statistical analysis, and submit reports of safety activities hazards and incidents to the senior leadership
Develops/manages all safety related training
Provide direction and consultation on all relevant FAA and operational safety requirements
Manage all company RCA and SRM efforts
Solid familiarity with FAA regulations and the Company's Operational Manual(s).
Expert knowledge of helicopter tourism operations and maintenance.
Ensures that all personnel follow safety programs, policies, procedures and systems designed to mitigate the risk of safety incidents/accidents.
Assist in evaluating field operations and corporate-based support functions' business processes and initiatives to ensure effective safety practices.
Direct corporate voluntary safety programs as required.
Develop, execute and manage all Sundance customer and employee Security plans and training
Overall, lead, drive and elevate a Culture of Safety that inspires all employees to be knowledgeable, aware of, and accountable for all Safety and Security areas.
Represent Sundance externally at industry and customer events, etc.
Externally, drive and establish thought leadership for Safety and Security within the Tourism industry
Conduct other activities as directed by the President of Sundance
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience

Degree in Safety and/or formalized safety training preferred.
Five (5) or more years of aviation safety experience within air tour operations preferred.
Helicopter Tour Pilot experience
Law enforcement/security experience preferred

Ability to manage highly confidential, sensitive or proprietary information.
Must possess and demonstrate high emotional maturity and intelligence (EQ).
Demonstrates teamwork.

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
Possesses sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making.
Must be proficient in leading and influencing teammates without direct reporting lines
Possesses ability to maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with internal and external customers.
Computer Skills

Advanced with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Expert computer skills and database management required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or International Society of Safety Professionals (ISSP) certification preferred.
