Your Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer on John Deere's Global IT Manufacturing, MES - Operations Enablement team, you will get the opportunity to work on large-scale global applications in a Fortune 500 company that is regularly ranked among the best companies to work for in the country. Employees joining our development teams will immediately be immersed in a culture where we emphasize personal and professional growth. This position will be on the Region 4 MES Operations team. In this position, you will be responsible for collaborating with other software engineers and analysts to develop, software delivery automation, application monitoring toolsets and solutions to all MES products;

  • Work as an active member of an Agile delivery team
  • Participate in discussions with the development team and extended functional teams to develop technical solutions to satisfy business requirements
  • Assists in resolution of IT technical issues in the product team.
  • Establishing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Developing automated test scripts.
  • Coach MES product teams to adopt standard CI/CD practices
  • Develop and guide to product teams build containerized solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Enable scanning, monitoring and alerting toolsets for all MES products
  • Enable teams to adopt Cloud solutions in their products (AWS/Azure)

Proven Technical Skills and Experiences

  • Proven experience in the design, development, testing and integration of highly complex software solutions using Java and/or .NET
  • Understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Proven experience working in a team environment
  • 1+ years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • 4+ years of experience with Java and/or .NET web development
  • 3+ years of experience in developing CI/CD automation using GitHub, Jenkins, Concourse, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Github, Jenkins, etc.)
  • 1+ years of experience in developing containerized software solutions (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in developing software solutions for manufacturing shop floor
  • 1+ years of experience in any of the cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)

Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaming Competencies

  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Deep experience with software delivery automation
  • Certification in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Experience configuring and implementing system execution/quality monitoring tools
  • Experience in coaching software developers

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
