Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer for immediate employment in New York.
  • Manages one or more very complex project, involving a combination of the following:
  • Clients with a national geographic footprint; OR,
  • Projects involving a full spectrum of services offered by IE; OR,
  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.
  • Manages all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).
  • Has consenting and regulatory authority for approvals.
  • Manages other Project Managers.
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience in engineering and/or project management or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Ability to develop complex engineering specs and perform intricate studies. These studies may involve the integration of client's system with the utlity systems of New York State, other states, and Canada.
  • Substatial knowledge of related disciplines, and understanding the effects on the stakeholders and its customers.
  • Aware of changes and advancements in the industry and develop industry-wide expertise.
  • Understand how client interacts with outside organizations, including other utlities and regulatory agencies, and with its customers.
  • Ability to understand project budgets, costs, rate structures, and policies.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills focused on the results of data rather than on the data analysis procedures. In some cases, these "problems" may be associated with generation and transmission of electricity safely, at the lowest cost, or in developing expanded capabilities and services for customers.
  • Ability to investigate what is not intuitive and to develop solutions to non-routine problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a project from start to finish, with only major decisions being brought to the Project Director.
  • Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.
  • Ability to work independently without minimal supervision and requires support only to confirm expected results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • New York State PE license is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Experience with control systems, DCS and PLC
