Job Purpose

The senior electrical engineer will be responsible for leading the electrical design and analysis of battery systems for telecom power systems applications. The successful candidate will have knowledge of and hands-on experience with electrical design and simulation tools and industry standards for telecom power systems and energy storage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The senior electrical engineer filling this position will be responsible for lithium battery module and lithium battery system design and development for telecom power systems including:

Electrical design for battery modules and systems including protection coordination

Design verification through simulation and experimental validation

Designing and building test fixtures to verify electro-mechanical designs

Analytical and software analysis of reliability of electrical systems

Interpreting telecom and energy storage battery standards and incorporating standards requirements into the electrical design


Required Skills

The senior electrical engineer filling this position will be required to demonstrate detailed and in depth technical knowledge and expertise in the following disciplines:

Expertise with Pspice, Multisim, ETAP

Capable of independently verifying electrical designs through calculations and simulations using state of the art tools

Cable sizing, routing, protection device selection and sizing for both steady state and transient conditions

Understanding of short circuit and arc Flash phenomena and calculations

Workshop experience with CNC, 3D printing, molding and other tools and methods to build in-house prototypes

FMEA & 8D for root cause analysis

Experience with analyzing, identifying and mitigating sources of EMC and EMI

Strong understanding and application of telecom and energy storage industry standards

Familiar with lifecycle management software such as WindChill

Documentation, report generation and maintenance of version control

Required Experience

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience

Experience with telecom and energy storage system design standards and systems

5+ years' experience designing electrical systems including cables, protection and dealing with EMC and EMI

5+ years' experience analyzing electrical systems design through analysis, simulation and experimental testing

3+ years workshop experience building prototypes and test fixtures
