Incident Response Hub Manager


An SAP Global Security Operations Incident Response Manager is a crucial front-line defender of SAP's digital enterprise. Our Incident Managers are responsible for managing a team of experts conducting event detection, incident triage, incident handling, and remediation in their regional hub. They work closely with the functional leadership from other teams in the Cyber Fusion Center to ensure a comprehensive and proactive cyber defense posture.


  • Guides and manages direct reports in conducting Event Detection, Incident Triage, Incident Handling, Hunting activities by leveraging SAP's detection/response platforms
  • Develops executive level reports to provide status on incidents to leadership
  • Ensures the closure of all resolved and end-user confirmed Incident records
  • Interfaces with Enterprise Detection and SIEM teams to make improvements to detection and alerting mechanisms
  • Identifies increasing trend of repetitive incidents, and works with architecture, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to identify root cause and create action plans to increase resiliency
  • Continuously monitors levels of service as well as interprets and prioritizes threats through use of intrusion detection systems, firewalls, other boundary protection devices, and any security incident management products deployed
  • Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through review and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information
  • Develops templates for third party communications for legal review
  • Develops, tracks, and consistently improves executive level metrics for program performance
  • Provides briefings at various levels of management regarding ongoing security incidents
  • Coordinates shift schedule and deployment of staffing within the established structure
  • Conducts performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports in day to day activities; helps staff members in enhancing skillset to progress in their career paths


  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Engineering or related work experience
  • Security certification (eg Security+, GCIA, GCIH, CISSP)
  • Comprehensive knowledge APT actors; their tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Expert knowledge of TTP methods and frameworks
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP communications & knowledge of how common protocols and applications work at the network level, including DNS, HTTP, and SMB
  • Expert knowledge of one or more
    • Windows/AD file system, registry functions and memory artifacts
    • Unix/Linux file systems and memory artifacts
    • Mac file systems and memory artifacts
    • Database, web application, cloud, or mobile device cyber incident response principals and techniques
    • Cybersecurity automation
  • Experience with one or more Scripting languages (Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with integration of threat hunting and cyber threat intelligence into the incident response process
  • Expertise managing cases with enterprise SIEM or Incident Management systems
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical expertise, close attention to detail, excellent critical thinking, logic, and solution orientation and to learn and adapt quickly
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to learn and operate in a dynamic environment
  • Proven experience leading multi-functional teams
  • Proactive, self-managed, and able to interface well with sponsor personnel and inter-disciplinary teams across an organization
  • Experience with information security compliance audit frameworks and requirements eg PCI, FISMA, FedRAMP, SOC, SOX, PCI, GDPR and Data Privacy


  • 7-9 years of experience working in a 24/7 operational environment (Cyber Intelligence Fusion Center, SOC, NOC, Operations Center)
  • 4-5 years of experience managing a security team
