ACCOUNTANT - Family office/Investment/Small Company

Our client High Wealth Family office that has a current Full time opening for a Accountant based at their office near Shadyside.

A strong knowledge of QuickBooks and possibly Backstop, is strongly desired

In this role you will be responsible for:


  • Maintains accounting ledgers; posting cash transaction entries, posting monthly performance to equity partners and transactions between affiliated entities and family members
  • Performs monthly Bank and Brokerage account reconciliations and completes daily accounting activities required to maintain accurate financials
  • Organizes annual Form 1099's and assists with year-end K-1 reconciliations for tax returns
  • Assists in the smooth flow of financial information to/from Controller to ensure accurate, complete, and timely preparation of tax returns
  • Prepares specialized reports for owners/family members
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports as needed; assists in problem solving
  • Assists in bill payments, invoicing, and cash transfers according to operating entity and/or family member needs


  • Assists in the smooth flow of financial information to/from the Investment Director to ensure accurate, complete, and timely preparation involving information flow into Backstop Solutions Reporting Software
  • Assists in the monthly investment close process involving entering investment calls, distributions, partners contribution and disbursements into investment software (Backstop)
  • Prepares and reviews monthly generated reports for accuracy and proper presentation
  • Verify auto input investment documents into Backstop are accurate


  • Assists with information/data management including document retrieval/storage, scanning, and filing documents


  • Coordinate in office meetings, lunches, airline/hotel reservations, office/kitchen supplies, medical reimbursement procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize workload, manage competing demands, meets deadlines
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Highest level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and PC software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint programs are required
  • Ability to use QuickBooks software accurately and efficiently. Familiarity with Backstop, Box and/or Pitchbook a plus
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team in a high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to establish working relationships

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Experienced skills using QuickBooks or other accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel
