About the Position

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for consulting internal business units to add value and improve operations. This person will a bring systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, controls, and governance processes.

Normal Day-to-Day Work

  1. Perform financial, operational and compliance audits within the Enterprise. Ensure adherence to GAAP, regulations, and Credit Union policies and procedures throughout the organization.
  2. Interact with stakeholders to clearly communicate audit findings and recommendations and negotiate appropriate solutions.
  3. Prepare audit reports that are accurate, objective, clear, concise, constructive, complete, and timely.
  4. Review financial systems, including electronic banking services based on financial services regulatory compliance knowledge and financial and operational processes, including the relevant risks and controls (eg, FCRA, TILA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, SCRA/MLA, etc.).
  5. Understand operational processes and systems relating to consumer financial products and services (eg, Credit Cards, Consumer loans, Deposits, Mortgages, etc.) to audit these products and services accordingly.
  6. Develop and execute regulatory compliance-related internal audits or second line of defense monitoring and testing programs.
  7. Use narratives, flowcharts, and process maps to identify internal control gaps in processes or systems and recommend appropriate remediation to mitigate the risk and/or protect against fraud and theft of the organization's assets.
  8. Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with assigned lines of business and business units.
  9. Keep abreast of current trends, new developments, technologies and practices in the audit profession, credit union industry and financial services regulatory compliance.
  10. Conduct investigations of irregularities discovered by or brought to the auditor's attention.

Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related area.
  2. Minimum 4 - 6 years of experience as an auditor, including 1-3 years auditing financial services.
  3. Thorough understanding of consumer and commercial compliance requirements, including but not limited to lending, deposit, and privacy regulations, guidance, and regulatory expectations.
  4. Experience with and excellent understanding of risk management and process concepts.
  5. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  6. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  7. Travel required on occasion.

Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.

  1. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), or equivalent certification preferred.
