The Director, Software Engineering, will have responsibility for the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the company's suite of information management systems. The position will work directly with other key stakeholders in the laboratory operations, genomics, quality, and R&D functions, and offer counsel and guidance regarding best intersections between relevant process requirements and the short term and long-term goals of the company.

Education/Experience:

  • BS, MS in computer sciences or engineering or related technical fields ;
  • 10+ years of progressive experience supervising groups responsible for information management systems in clinical environments;
  • 10+ years of experience in design, maintenance, and validation of information systems in a regulated life sciences environment;
  • Proven track record of execution--driving results and meeting commitments;
  • Experience with quality management system (QMS), change management and traceability documentation;
  • Experience in supporting audits by regulatory bodies; experience working within a Product Management framework/discipline;
  • Experience with solutions architecture practice and methodologies;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment;

Communication Skill:

Works effectively with all levels of management and individual contributors to analyze, interpret, and summarize data both orally and in writing; ability to develop and present detailed summaries and conceptual overviews, author reports and effectively present results, next steps, and potential challenges to internal and external audiences. Ability to effectively articulate and propose experimental approaches to issues to the senior leadership team and coordinate resources as needed.

Works highly effectively both as an individual and part of a team; can manage relationships with exceptional effectiveness; representing company perspectives and advocating processes that facilitate our business as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement and maintain information management systems to meet operational requirements
  • Ensure systems are developed, tested and maintained to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulations, including CLIA, CAP, GxP and HIPAA
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across laboratory systems, keep up to date on technological changes
  • Promote agile development process and drive operational excellence and efficiency through effective management
  • Engage key stakeholders to identify business needs and formulate solutions that meet business objectives
  • Consult or act as a representative for cross-functional groups regarding related technical issues, operational issues and lead problem solving and resolution efforts as needed
  • Organize and prioritize the team's workload against strategic imperatives and changing business conditions
  • Ensure project timelines and quality of all work being completed through the platform Group
  • Work closely with the VP, TR&D, to provide updates regarding status, issues, and changes related to ongoing work; ensure appropriate resource deployment to meet project goals
  • Report to senior management periodically on various system initiatives
