Job Description


We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Tester to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality.

QA Tester responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (eg defect densities and open defect counts.)

The QA technician role plays an important part in our company's product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before new product releases to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. Ultimately, you should monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform Black Box testing of our native mobile applications to ensure performance, usability, quality, submission readiness, and hardware/software compatibility.

Responsible for both Android and iOS platforms, and will be performing tests on the simulator as well as on various real devices.

For each release, test new features, updates, and bug fixes to ensure that everything works according to spec/design as well as full regression testing before the app release.

Test server REST API make sure that the mobile clients consume and display the APIs appropriately.

Documentation and networking tools to determine whether bugs are caused by the server or client.

Identify and document clear steps to reproduce bugs and work with the team to prioritize bugs into releases.

Keep up with the timelines for release deadlines and will sign off when a build is ready for app submission.

Collaborate closely with Developers, Designers and Product Managers to clarify inconsistencies between the spec and the outcome, and ensure that the final product meets expectation.

Deploy web branches to QA environments in order to test Back End changes alongside the mobile app.

Other duties as assigned

The Ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate the following skills:

3-5 years of mobile and web software QA experience

Passion for mobile applications

API expertise using RestAPI, and how mobile devices, communicate data to/from servers

Experience working on different applications and operating systems: iOS, various flavors of Android

Experience manually building apps on a simulator or devices with Xcode and Android Studio

Good understanding of GitHub, branches, and pull requests

Ability to think outside of the box and beyond the obvious to uncover behind the scene type bugs

Ability to work on different web operating systems (Mac and Windows), knowledge of multi-browser testing, and capable of working across several QA servers.

Experience with defect tracking software or Agile project management systems

Familiarity with Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Agile, Confluence)

Experience with GIT distributed version control systems

Experience working independently, collaboratively, and meeting schedules under pressure, the ideal candidate must be able to analyze situations, prioritize appropriately and set the appropriate goals for achieving results.

Experience in taking concepts to practical implementations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized

Be a team player and participate in mutual teaching and learning across the team

Education and/or Experience:

4+ years of experience in the software QA industry.

3+ years of experience as a QA analyst or equivalent.

Demonstrated software testing knowledge, ideally with a focus on mobile platforms.

Self-motivated with a strong work ethic that can work with limited supervision

Experience working across multiple operating systems

Technical aptitude to learn internal, proprietary tools BS in Computer Science, BS Software Engineering or equivalent

Must have experience with client/server systems

Must have understanding of service-oriented architecture

Must be able to show or describe previous work as well as level of involvement in these projects
