Location/Division Specific Information
Our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Life Science Division is located in San Jose, CA. At this site, we develop and manufacture a complete range of high-end analytical instruments and software services that support customers within proteomics, clinical research, forensic toxicology, pharmaceutical, biotech, food safety, and environmental market segments.
How will you make an impact?
You will be joining a design team to develop novel mass spectrometers and associated products. You will also be collaborating with a broad team of engineers and scientists researching new technologies and bringing them to market. Your contribution will make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
What will you do?
Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design components, assemblies, and processes used by the scientific instruments industry.
Apply these efforts coupled with knowledge of mechanical engineering and design, to proof-of-concept experiments, new product development, and product enhancements.
Add technical leadership and system engineering expertise to a team of engineers and technicians in designing highly competitive analytical instrumentation.
How will you get here?
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS highly preferred) or related discipline
10+ years of 3-D solid modeling experience designing high quality precision parts. Hands on manufacturing/machining experience is preferred.
Experience with multiple manufacturing processes (ie casting, molding, machining, injection molding etc.).
Proficient with requirements definition process and verification and validation.
Experience with scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
In depth knowledge of the application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in the design process.
Understanding of mechanical designs for vacuum and ultra-high vacuum systems preferred.
Ability to understand and solve complex design challenges both independently and as part of a design team.
Excellent project planning capability, with proven ability to lead projects and support of existing products through the product life cycle utilizing SAP and Product Center PLM Systems.
