UW Medicine's IT Services department has an outstanding opportunity for an Data Governance Analyst 2! UW Medicine's Information Technology Services (ITS) department is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM) and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Seattle Children's). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all of these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission. In collaboration with UW Medicine IT Services ('ITS') and under the general guidance of the Assistant Director, Analytics Consulting, the primary focus of the Data Governance Analyst 2 ('Analyst') is enabling the continued growth, adoption, and effective running of the data governance program. This role relies heavily on a people engagement mindset, facilitating change management, as well as working with technical stakeholders. This role also holds minor technical responsibilities of management and administration of the data governance platform (Collibra). While all members of the Analytics Consulting Team are expected to develop a proficiency across the domains we support, the Analyst's areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: + Support ongoing adoption, growth and expansion of the data governance program and platform across UWM + This includes understanding user goals and use cases (especially around data, reporting, and analytics) + Driving increasing business ownership over the lifetime of the program + Onboarding and training of new 'Author' level users in the data governance platform + Support integration of UW Medicine data governance with UW data governance, especially for financial data + Support the assigned operating model within the data governance platform, including the program backlog + Support the creation of business and governance assets. + Work with technical stakeholders to register and ingest new data assets into the governance platform + Maintain the data governance platform, including correctly defining relationships between assets + Platform administration including registering new 'Author' users + Collaboration with external vendors and consultants where needed + Support needs for communication and collaboration across Analytics and with business partners, especially with respect to data management and governance. As a member of the Analytics Consulting Team, the Analyst will participate in the triage of incoming customer requests with other team members. The Analyst will engage with other team members to drive process improvements both within the Analytics Consulting Team and the department as a whole. The Analyst will stay up-to-date on all department solutions and services and frequently demonstrate and educate customers on existing and new tools. RESPONSIBILITIES Program delivery and stakeholder engagement: use case analysis, training, coordination, communication, implementation (60%) + Collaborates with UW Medicine and UW partners, business users, data SMEs and other analysts, facilitating an effective governance program. + Assists in investigates, analysis, reviews, and documents all or part of a business's data needs to ensure adoption, growth, and expansion of the data governance program. + Gathers requirements for use cases and analyzes for the development of use cases in support of data governance. + Supports the implementation and ongoing management of use cases, change management and communication, and business data governance needs. + Supports delivery of hands on and computer-based training by developing communications for various user types that enable success and adoption of new practices. + Monitors platform usage to gauge adoption and works with senior staff and/or leadership to adapt strategy accordingly. + Works through the program backlog. Platform configuration and administration (35%) + Manages competing stakeholder priorities and confers with manager in order to ensure a high-quality work product is delivered to customers. + Translates use cases (data, business, governance asset types and relationships) into configuration and implementation within the data governance platform (Collibra). + Works with technical stakeholders and 3rd party vendors to ensure source connectivity, metadata ingest, platform health and optimal data quality. + Works independently on assigned tasks with minimal assistance. + Interacts with customers to communicate status, resolve issues, and obtain approvals. Other (5%) + Participates in all aspects of improving the team, including education/training of other team members and contributing to process/communication improvement initiatives. + Works with manager to set professional goals for career development. + Acts as back-up for other team members and functions, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS + Bachelor's degree in Business or Health Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience. 2+ years' experience must include the following: + 2+ years of recent healthcare or IT experience. + 2+ years' experience performing progressively more complex data analysis, working with data quality and data governance. + Experience with data governance tools, preferably Collibra. + Familiarity with functional requirements, ability to write documentation to support the governance and business analysis process. + Experience managing small sized projects utilizing formal project management methodologies, especially Agile (iterative) approaches. + Exposure to standard healthcare data, particularly claims and clinical electronic health record data. + Demonstrated experience with data analytics, including terminology, and visualization tools. + Understanding of formal project management, especially agile (iterative) approaches. + Demonstrated experience working through the complete report development lifecycle. DESIRED + Advanced degree (eg, Master's, PhD, etc.) + Familiarity with or certification in Data Governance and/or Collibra applications. + Previous experience in and knowledge of academic healthcare systems and/or operational environments. + Familiarity with SQL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT + This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment. + The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed. + This position would be required to provide on-call production support at selected times as part of a rotation. + Must have the ability to meet in person as directed by manager. + Because of the physically separated sites for UW Medicine, this position requires the ability to travel to alternative work locations as needed. + Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority. + Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments. + ITS provides services to all UW Medicine organizations - HMC, UWMC-Montlake, UWMC-NW, VMC, UWNC, UWP, SOM, and ALNW.?
