Position Summary:

The Sr Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the testing of upgrades, patches and configuration changes to the system along with BSI/Tax upgrades in order to verify the functionality and accuracy of the system. The position will manage the administration, system setup, support and system reporting. The position will work with the payroll staff on day-to-day payroll activities and act as the primary back up for the Payroll Specialist positions. The position will collaborate with HR, HR Shared Services, Benefits, Finance, HRIS and IT in order to accurately plan and manage the system and processes needed for accurate and timely payrolls.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the development and analysis of payroll data using system functionality, spreadsheets and other databases where appropriate and drive continuous improvement process.
  • Coordinate activities with IT, HRIS, Payroll, Finance, HR Shared Services, Benefits and HR to ensure timely and accurate flow of information.
  • Proactively assesses the system needs of the Payroll department and identifies, analyzes and recommends business process and/or system enhancements to the Payroll Manager.
  • Tests configuration along with monthly, quarterly and annual upgrades and patches to ensure the functionality of the system.
  • Responsible for understanding the reporting requirements and utilize system functionality for creation and development of payroll and ad-hoc reports, improve processes and analyze payroll variances. Exercise discretion of confidential and sensitive information
  • Maintain payroll internal controls; ensuring proper procedures, policies and rules are applied to payroll activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of payroll required.
  • Provide support in all aspects of payroll under the direction of the Payroll Manager ensuring payroll processing timelines are met. Assist in the payroll process to ensure accountability for an accurate and timely payroll.
  • Assist in year-end processes, reconciliation and W-2 processing.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Know all internal policies and procedures to ensure they are adhered to regarding all payroll matters. Works when necessary with the legal department when necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferred 3-5 years of payroll/HRIS experience
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll rules and IRS regulations
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing
  • Intermediate to advance MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects
  • Changing priorities and be deadline sensitive
  • Excellent communication, analytical and mathematical skills, along with the ability to problem solve
  • Self-Starter who works independently as well as in a team setting

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Physical requirements associated with normal office working environment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
