Job Description:

Lead a vision-based academic planning process that increases the Colleges overall competitive position and ensures long-term stability.
Provide effective leadership for all areas of academic affairs, including the School of Education, the School of Business, Arts and Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, the Office of Institutional Research; advising, the Office of the Registrar, the Center for Accessibility Services (CAS), the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLS), the Center for Navigating Educational Success Together (NEST), and the library.

Advance the academic priorities and goals of the College in a fiscally responsible manner, balancing expenses and revenues and managing growth, with an emphasis on new and enhanced programming, student learning, and quality of instruction.

Maintain proactive and ongoing attention to factors influencing current and future accreditation status, including but not limited to all programmatic and institutional assessment, annual program reports, and periodic program review, ensuring instructional excellence and academic integrity.

Serve as the point of contact for external constituents on issues related to academic affairs, including the Board of Trustees, the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), and other accrediting bodies (eg, CCNE, ACOTE and CAPTE).

Provide advisory recommendations to the president on academic appointments, faculty recruitment, evaluation, and development, tenure and promotion matters, and ensure that such processes comply with the terms of the faculty handbook.

Oversee the collaboration of the areas that fall within academic affairs to ensure the College is following best academic policies and practices.

Be responsible for the integrity of the academic process.

Required Degree(s):Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
Required Field of Expertise: Significant experience in an office of academic affairs.


Demonstrated progression of senior academic administrative positions.
Successful record of leadership and accomplishment in strategic planning, faculty development, shared governance, operational management, curriculum enhancement, and encouraging excellence and innovation in teaching through the use of technology, research and creative activities.

Ability and proven success of development and implementation of new programming and academic partnerships with external academic entities.

Experience developing and managing complex budgets.

Ability to gather information, dig deep into the information, make difficult decisions based on this information, and communicate transparently the recommendation or decision(s) effectively and timely.

Knowledge and understanding of alternative academic program delivery models.

As a key member of the presidents leadership team, demonstrates excellent communication, execution, transparence, and collaboration skills in close partnership with the president.

Proven ability to pursue external funding for support of academic affairs programming in collaboration with institutional advancement.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong verbal and written skills.

Ability to formulate and articulate sound academic policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities.

Strong organizational and management skills.

Ability to competently and objectively advocate and advise the president on academic matters.

Ability to adeptly manage staff and multiple projects
