The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) employs more than 1,900 members statewide - either at headquarters in Tallahassee or in one of seven regional operations centers (ROCs). Services are delivered by five key areas: Executive Direction and Business Support; Investigations and Forensic Science; Florida Capitol Police; Criminal Justice Information Services; and Criminal Justice Professionalism. To promote public safety and strengthen domestic security by providing services in partnership with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to prevent, investigate, and solve crimes while protecting Florida citizen's and visitors.

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants . The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant's immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment verifications, drug screen and fingerprinting. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.


  • Starting salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


  1. A bachelor s degree from a college or university and four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or
  2. A bachelor s degree from a college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and three years of experience as described above; or
  3. A master s degree from a college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and two years of experience as described above; or
  4. A doctorate from a college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year of experience as described above; or
  5. Five years of experience as described above and either (a) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (b) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
  6. Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  7. Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.


This position will be a member of FDLE's Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and is responsible for:

  • Coordinating security of the department's information and information systems including serving as a point of contact for the Division of State Technology;
  • Conducting information security risk assessments as required by state law;
  • Conducting security audits;
  • Reviewing and updating department information security policies and procedures;
  • Developing and updating the IT Services Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and Disaster Recovery plan;
  • Developing and updating the department's annual Information Security Strategic Plan and Operations Plan;
  • Coordinating and reporting on any information security incident response including root cause analysis;
  • Conducting research and maintaining knowledge of potential technology security risks and advising IT staff, management and users about preventative measures regarding these risks;
  • Working to mitigate known security risks as communicated to the department;
  • Ensuring that newly developed or purchased information systems meet State or Federal information security requirements; and
  • Managing the department's compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.


  • Experience in information technology security, audits, and information security risk assessments;
  • Experience in Continuity of Operations Planning;
  • Experience with information security tools such as log servers, network scanners, Security Information and Event Management (SEIM), and software debuggers;
  • Experience in a multi-project environment with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and execute large scale, high risk, and high visibility projects;
  • Experience developing and administering technology governance processes;
  • Experience in organizational planning; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


Salary will be commensurate with experience.


Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed their probationary period or served at least one year in their current position. Preference may be given to applicants in the State Personnel System who have satisfactorily completed their probationary period or served at least one year in their current position.
