Faculty Openings at The
University of Tampa
Accounting: The
Department of Accounting in Sykes College of Business at The
University of Tampa invites applications for an experienced tenure
track assistant professor of Accounting. An earned doctorate degree
in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent is
required. All candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching
and a commitment to scholarly research. Candidates whose research
and teaching interests are in the area of financial accounting will
receive priority but candidates with research and teaching
interests in other areas of accounting will also be considered.
Expertise in data analytics, practical accounting experience, and
professional certification are desirable.
Art and Design:
The Department of Art and Design in the College of Arts and Letters
at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track
appointment as Assistant Professor in Art and Design to teach 3D
courses in traditional and digital capacities. The position
requires the ability to teach widely across the field of 3D studio
art and design. All candidates should be dedicated to high-quality
teaching of undergraduate students, and service to the Department
and University.
Biology: The
Department of Biology in the College of Natural and Health Sciences
invites applications for three positions. The first is a
tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Conservation
Genetics. A Ph.D. in a relevant or closely related field is
required, and candidates with postdoctoral training and
undergraduate teaching experience are preferred. The department
also invites applications for two full-time, renewable,
instructional faculty positions. These positions are primarily for
teaching General Biology lecture and lab for science majors, and
non-science major lecture courses as assigned by the department
chair. A Ph.D. is preferred while advanced ABD candidates will be
considered. Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching,
advising, and service to the Department and University.
Chemistry: The
Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics in the College of
Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for three
positions. The first is a tenure-track, Assistant Professor
position in Organic Chemistry. A Ph.D. in a relevant or closely
related field is required, and candidates with postdoctoral
training and undergraduate teaching experience are preferred. The
department also invites applications for two full-time, renewable
instructional faculty positions. A Ph.D. in a relevant or closely

Communication: The
Communication Department of the College of Arts and Letters at The
University of Tampa seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track
assistant professor for the Communication, Media, and Culture
major. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in
film/media studies and a research interest or background in gaming,
transmedia storytelling, or immersive content while being able to
integrate media production and critical inquiry in their teaching
through emergent/convergent platforms such as video essays,
podcasts, VR/AR/360° video, etc. All candidates should be dedicated
to high-quality teaching of undergraduate students, scholarship,
and service to the Department and University.
Economics: The
Department of Economics in The University of Tampa's Sykes College
of Business invites applications for a tenure track Assistant
Professor of Economics position. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in
Economics before the start date. A demonstrated commitment to
teaching excellence is required. The applicant will also be
expected to maintain an active research agenda and to actively
participate in student service. The successful applicant will teach
Principles of Macroeconomics in our undergraduate program. An
ability to teach an upper-level undergraduate or graduate course in
Applied Time-Series Econometrics (expertise in R programming
preferable) and/or Business Analytics would be desirable. The
opportunity exists to teach other courses that match the
applicant's interests. The teaching load is three courses
(typically two preps) per semester.
English and
Writing: The Department of English and Writing seeks
applicants for three faculty positions. One is a tenure-track
assistant professor specializing in non-fiction writing with
interests in creative writing pedagogy. The department also invites
applications for two full-time, renewable, instructional faculty
positions to teach in and develop our Academic Writing program. All
candidates should be dedicated to high-quality teaching of
undergraduate students, scholarship, and service to the Department
and University.
Finance: The
Finance Department in the Sykes College of Business invites
applications for a full-time, renewable instructional faculty
position. Candidates are to teach primarily introductory corporate
finance at the undergraduate level: Financial Management (FIN 310).
A secondary assignment in investment management of financial
markets is likely. The successful candidate will have an MS in
Finance or MBA with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Finance.
ABD's or Ph.D. will be given preference.
Information and Technology
Management: The Department of Information and Technology
Management (ITM) at The University of Tampa's Sykes College of
Business invites applicants for a tenurable position as Director of
Cybersecurity Programs. This is a tenure-track faculty position at
the Associate Professor level or higher. Assistant Professor with
substantial expertise will also be considered. In addition to the
undergraduate and graduate degrees in Cybersecurity, there are two
state of the art Cybersecurity labs with a lab coordinator. The
Sykes College of Business is accredited by AACSB and the MIS
program in the ITM department is accredited by ABET. The department
is planning to achieve ABET or DHS/NSA accreditation for the
Cybersecurity program.
Mathematics: The
Department of Mathematics in the College of Social Sciences,
Mathematics and Education invites applications for a tenure-track
position in statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to
support the development of a new program in Actuarial Science. The
successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics
or closely associated field. All candidates should be dedicated to
high-quality teaching of undergraduate students, and service to the
Department and University.
Music: The
Department of Music within the College of Arts and Letters at The
University of Tampa invites applications for an Assistant Professor
of Music - Music History and/or Theory. The successful candidate
will be a dedicated and successful teacher of music history and/or
music theory, who can also effectively teach general education
courses (eg music appreciation, world music, jazz history) and
music courses in other areas. A PhD or equivalent is required. All
candidates should be dedicated to high-quality teaching of
undergraduate students, scholarship, and service to the Department
and University.
Sport Management:
The Department of Sport Management in the College of Natural and
Health Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at
the Assistant Professor level. Teaching responsibilities may
include upper and lower-level undergraduate courses in the areas of
International Sport and Sport Marketing. A Ph.D. is preferred while
advanced ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates are expected
to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring student
experiential learning opportunities, scholarly activity, and
service to the Department and University.
