Senior Automation & Controls Engineer

Hatch is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL. The Sr. A&C Engineer will manage and execute small to medium sized mining, industrial mineral and utilities processing type projects from concept to completion. We are looking for individuals that has exceptional client focus, understands client's needs and expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop Front End engineering scopes of work, man-hour budgets, cost estimates and staffing requirements;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all engineering activates;
  • Supervision of a project team from concept to completion in a multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Provision of cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines;
  • Full knowledge, understanding and application of Electrical Codes, Standards and Regulations;
  • Collaboration with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives;
  • Enforcement of technical policies and procedures and advise project team of their assignments and deadlines;
  • Promotion of safe work practices and ensuring that team members conduct work in accordance with company safety and quality policies and procedures;
  • Participation in regular project meetings and assessment of ongoing project needs;
  • Ensuring of accuracy of work by all project team members and the meeting of deadlines; Interaction, organization and administration of client relationships;
  • Preparation and review of all engineering documentation within discipline including, but not limited to, the following documents, lists, calculations and detail drawings;
  • Instrumentation and Controls Design Criteria, Control Philosophy and conceptual design of industrial control systems, Control Narratives, instrument index, I/O lists, instrumentation calculations, data sheets, specifications, selection and sizing, P&ID's, system architecture drawings, instrument location drawings, installation detail drawings, wiring and interconnection diagrams, ISA loop drawings, motor control schematics;
  • Overseeing production of scope of work documentation, engineering and construction work packages and performing quality checks and verification of compliance to all relevant standards and internal procedures;
  • Checking and verifying construction drawings, vendor drawings, material requisitions and approval of bid tabulations and field checkout;
  • Perform field surveys, when necessary;
  • Provide construction support, commissioning and start-up assistance as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited College or University with a strong interest in industrial process control, automation and computer systems;
  • Minimum 10 (ten) years of progressive engineering experience specializing in the design of industrial instrumentation and controls systems for mining, metallurgy, mineral processing, thermal power and water type projects;
  • PE license is preferred;
  • Versed in current statutory regulations, industry standards and recommended practices and a practical sense in applying such references; DCS and PLC control system hardware and architecture; SIS systems hardware and architecture;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Rockwell, Wonderware, ABB, Foxboro, Siemens, Emerson, GE technology and Relational Databases is an asset;
  • Experience in advanced process controls, optimization of PID loop tuning and/or fuzzy logic is a plus;
  • Excellent planning and execution drive to deliver results and meet quality, cost and schedule targets;
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and quality programs and procedures ;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a results-oriented attitude and the ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong computer knowledge is required.
