Requisition Summary

The Technical Specialist role is responsible for the study, analysis, development, and documentation of the plant assembly and fabrication processes. The position also includes assistance with continuous improvement efforts focusing on: departmental quality improvement projects, ergonomic improvement projects, line balance optimization, and improvements in overall departmental efficiency. This position requires a broad knowledge of welding technology, working under minimal supervision. This position will be located in McKinney, TX.

Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • Review welding area for potential productivity improvements and/or cost reductions
  • Provide input and guidance to welding parameter development
  • Study and analyze plant assembly processes with recommendations for improvement
  • Audit processes against Standard Work
  • Monitor tooling/equipment for fitness of use
  • Implement and support initiatives to improve training levels
  • Conduct process and product audits and document results
  • Monitor and track scrap by department, establish plans to eliminate scrap
  • Make recommendations for reducing product cycle time, efficiency improvements and reduced manufacturing costs
  • Participate in FMEA, PCP, or PFMEA review discussion
  • Be able to recommend process and/or system changes to enhance safety/productivity/quality
  • Participate in corrective actions related to internal or external defects
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Technically competent in GTAW and GMAW welding, of both aluminum and steel components
  • Perform aluminum welding operations on all types of metals and alloys in various sizes, shapes and on diversified assemblies, products or structure
  • Use of hand, pneumatic and vibratory tools
  • Push/pull/lift/carry can involve up to 75 lbs
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity
  • Must be able to operate independently with little guidance while being a positive contributor to a team environment
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Computer literacy is required with a familiarity of MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • A minimum of four (4 ) years manufacturing and/or distribution experience preferred
  • Demonstrate understanding of Six Sigma concepts and techniques
  • Demonstrate understanding of root cause and corrective action tools/methods
  • Experience with SAP/RF/Operations preferred

Education & Experience
  • GED/HS Diploma required
  • Bachelor s degree preferred
  • AWS welding certifications preferred
  • Certification from a welding program preferred
