The Director of Distribution- Lean/Continuous Improvement is responsible for the development, enhancement, and compliance to a Lean Six Sigma program which is consistently applied across all distribution operations both domestically and internationally. This will entail the development and maintenance of training materials, training classes, utilization of problem-solving methodologies, tracking progress, auditing compliance and driving sustainment. This position will also be responsible to the attainment of established cost reduction targets by location in order to facilitate the attainment of established organizational/divisional objectives.

Along with being responsible for the Lean Six Sigma - Distribution departments, this position will be responsible for the Corporate IDEA Network. This entails managing the IDEA Network manager and ensuring that Lean Six Sigma and the IDEA Network operate in unison. Included within these objectives will be to ensure all applicable personnel receive Lean Six Sigma training, ensure proper use of established tools and methodologies, assign appropriate resources to assist in achieving quality, cost or delivery objectives, mentor others in managing projects and maintaining accurate records of all activities.

Primary Job Functions

1. Develop and maintain a corporate wide approach to Lean Six Sigma. This will entail a standardized approach to training, problem solving, reporting and tracking initiatives.

2. Develop training materials and build on existing training materials to align with corporate wide approach to Lean Six Sigma. Ensure superior execution of all training modules by constant review of participant feedback and instructor evaluations and current systems.

3. Manage the training of all applicable personnel.

4. Manage and ensure the accuracy of applicable SharePoint sites.

5. Track provided training in order to ensure the accuracy of applicable training is provided in a timely manner.

6. Manage the Lean Six Sigma Managers via an indirect leadership role with all domestic and international locations to ensure organizational consistency including recruitment and evaluation.

7. Work in conjunction with the Directors of Operations and Finance Managers to identify opportunities and manage tasks to attain facility cost, quality or delivery goals.

8. Responsible for promoting the use of Lean Six Sigma tools throughout the Ashley Companies.

9 Drive the development and sustainment of a visual workplace.

10. Manage the Lean Six Sigma teams in such a manner that fosters communication, support and attainment of prescribed objectives.

11. Identify and present improvement opportunities to appropriate management.

12. Oversee domestic and international departmental budgets and manage all activites to ensure compliance with budgeted resources.

13. Fully utilize the support of all departments to meet objectives.

14. Maintain corporate disciplines, company policies, and procedures to create a productive and safe environment. Including the use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a lean and organized environment at all times.

15. Work to ensure all employees, adhere to creating a safe and ergonomic workplace by following all corporate safety guidelines and protocol.

16. Maintain Lean Six Sigma metrics including the Activity Matrix and Training Matrix.

17. Continually demonstrate a working knowledge of Six Sigma and LEAN tools.

18. Support corporate initiatives including but not limited to IDEA Network, Achieve Global Training and all other Company Sponsored programs.

19. Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.

20. Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area's goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.

21. Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.

22. Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.

23. Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.

24. Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials.

25. Demonstrate the Company's Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in either Quality, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience, Required

10 years' experience in Lean Six Sigma in a manufacturing environment, Required

Supervisory/Management experience across multiple locations

Lean certification or Six Sigma Black Belt certification or ability to obtain within 2 years, Required

Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving Budget creation
