Infrastructure Engineer

Permanent - Newbury

Salary £35k - £45k DOE

A global company who work alongside the major consultancies in the UK, are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to be part of their ever expanding IT team based in Newbury.

The Infrastructure Engineer will take ownership of all aspects of the internal IT infrastructure ranging from service management, maintenance and support through to resolving desktop issues.


  • Managing 1st, 2nd & 3rd line infrastructure and application support, as well as assisting other business units with technical issues.
  • Managing incidents and service requests within an agreed SLA and working on complex Incidents and problems to resolution.
  • Managing the acceptance of new services into support, 3rd party supplier management as well as having technical facilities infrastructure responsibilities.

Technical Skills and Personal Qualities

  • Must have at least of 3 years in an infrastructure support role (2nd or 3rd line engineer) working in an ITIL environment as well as good desktop, server and network troubleshooting skills. Also a good understanding of IT security and service continuity considerations.
  • Exposure to HP and Dell Servers and Storage, Windows Server 2003 onwards, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP Networking, Active Directory user account and security group administration, Microsoft Office 365 suite and Office 365 Exchange online administration, Hyper V Virtual Machine technologies. Windows 10 desktop and laptop PC's, Avaya VoIP telephony, Avaya Contact Store, Cyber security, Cisco SG300 network Switches and Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi.
  • Excellent communication to all levels of the business, organisational skills, good documentation skills and the ability to interact with and manage IT service providers as well as strong relationship management, problem solving and conflict management skills.
