Embedded Software Engineer | South Wales | Contract (remote) (Contract)

Location: South Wales Country: UK Rate: £40-£50 per hour

Embedded Software Engineer Role - Contract - South Wales (Remote work available)

I am currently working with a client based in South Wales who are looking for a Contractor to join the business on an initial 6 month Contract, but with a view to extending for a further 18 months.

They are based in South Wales, but apart from occasional on-site lab work, they would allow a large proportion of remote working.

Type: 6 month Contract

Location: South Wales/Remote

Rate: £40-£50 per hour

Start Date: can wait up to 4 weeks

Skills Required:

  • Embedded C, bare metal
  • Microprocessors, ideally ARM architectures & PowerPC
  • Linux development
  • Driver integration and development
  • Kernel configuration and deployment


  • Yocto/Poky tool chain knowledge desirable
  • Bootloader development experience, particularly UBoot
  • MISRA requirements and compliance
  • Working knowledge of Python and Shell Scripting for basic application or test code development
  • General Linux system administrator skills (Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora)
  • Good configuration management skills such as git and svn
  • Hardware appreciation in areas such as: serial comms, CAN, SPI, I2C, modems and AT command structures, Ethernet, USB

This role does allow for the possibility of working from home for large periods, however, it will be necessary to work on-site to support lab development and collaborate with the engineering team at regular intervals. The candidate should hold a current UK driving licence.
