Senior Cloud Engineer - Global eCommerce - £65k + 30% Bonus (Permanent)

Senior Cloud Engineer

The Job
As a Senior Cloud Engineer for this business unit, your role will be to join an operations team who have full ownership of their cloud services with presence of AWS, IBM, Azure and Private Cloud. This is joining a team of 4 engineers where you will be reporting directly report to Head of IT.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will be hands-on and responsible for their 3 core pillars where you will be involved designing parts of their cloud systems, working closely with the developers in deploying their CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications.

Over the next year or so, you will be helping to make to enormous organizational changes happen from a technical point of view. There will be work in migrating towards Azure which you will be involved with in the future. Off course, there will be DevOps protocols you will be following where you will be hands-on with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

The job means you will be part of a 24x7 on-call rota and as a Cloud Engineer you will be helping in fixing incidents, monitoring alerts, analysing performance, logging, automating and configuration management. Your role will see you working with key stakeholders, and the business at large to understand the strategic direction and translate that into practical solutions that keep pace with this ambitious business.

The hands-off part of the job will be coaching & mentoring some of the junior engineers and helping the team reach their goals.

About you
You'll be a confident communicator and be able to transition between the business and the technical teams with relative ease. You'll be a totem for your technical teams, and you'll be driven to maintain HA for their systems.
You will be a very well-versed engineer with experience with either Azure, Google Cloud or AWS. You will have experience of working in a DevOps type environment with the following tools such as Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes.
You will have experience in Scripting with the main languages and network and security protocols.
You will want to work in a fast-paced business where there are loads to do.
