API Platform Lead - JavaScript - Angular

Based in Canary Wharf (2 days in the office - 3 days remote) an API Platform Lead is required on a 6-month contract.

Candidates can work through a Limited Company for this role.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a unique client, you will join a software development team to develop, deliver and support the application systems to meet business requirements using a range of agile techniques and knowledge of software development and software products underpinned with knowledge of IT operations, supporting a regulated finance industry sector such as banking or insurance. This is a "hands on" development role.

This could lead to an opportunity for a long-term contract with multiple extensions in a modern working environment.

You will spearhead the technology division, driving the development and execution of the API strategy and capabilities. Your responsibilities include overseeing the design, architecture, and maintenance of the platform, setting API design standards, managing the developer portal, and ensuring compliance across Technology teams for building and deploying APIs.

You will also lead and mentor a diverse team of software engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Essential Experience: 

  • Proven experience of leading software engineering teams, preferably in API development and management.
  • Strong technical background in API architecture, cloud technologies (Azure preferred), and digital transformation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align various interests and requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of SDLC, API strategies, and governance practices.
