IT Support Engineer - 3rd Line (Permanent)

Location: Hull Country: UK Rate: up to £45,000 plus package
 

IT Support Engineer - 3rd Line - Hull/remote - up to £45,000 plus package

I have an exciting opportunity to join a well-established UK Manufacturing business as an IT Support Engineer supporting a diverse and leading-edge range of Digital Platforms and systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting 2nd and 3rd line activities for core Digital Infrastructures and associated platforms to ensure we maintain operational SLA's across the organisation.

You will also support technical project delivery, as required, ensuring projects are achieved on time and to specification, without compromising on quality and ensuring close collaboration with both internal and external customers in a professional and effective manner.

Job Responsibilities & Major Activities:

  • Systems availability of all mission critical technologies.
  • Support and enhance existing Digital Infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Server solutions.
  • Datacentre management support for existing on-premises technology (includes Vmware, SAN solutions & backup/recovery process)
  • Support and development of all core networking technologies (Firewall, core switching and WiFi).
  • Active role on the Divisional Service Desk supporting BAU and Project based activities.
  • Provide presentations, training, and support to ensure business users remain proficient in the use of IT systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of IT infrastructure processes and procedures.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an IT Technical role at 2nd/3rd line (a min 1000 users' company).
  • Operational support and development of core Microsoft Server (OS; AD; SQL) & Cloud solutions (Azure; M365 E5 stack).
  • Vmware management and support (ESXi and vCentre) - including physical server hardware and SAN equipment.
  • Competence working with Linux OS, notably Ubuntu.
  • Strong networking experience working with Firewall Technology and Layer 3 networking.
  • Demonstrable ability of working within a zero trust' security infrastructure and adhering to Cyber best practice standards.
  • Creating technical documentation, including delivering user community awareness content.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to lead others and communicate complex technical information.

Skills:

  • Broad technical knowledge of core Microsoft Solutions (Server & Desktop OS; AD; SQL Server; Azure; M365 (E5)
  • VMware vSphere (7+) & SAN Storage Management
  • Exposure to working with Linux platforms, notably, Ubuntu operational management
  • Operational skills with Firewalls; Layer 3 networking & WiFi standard Microsoft OS and networking in manufacturing
  • Good understanding of security best practices
  • Helpful friendly and approachable, able to communicate to both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
