Network & Infrastructure Engineer, Cisco, Cloud, LAN/WAN, Teams

This assignment has been deemed outside of IR35.
Hybrid work - 3 days per week.

Network Engineer, with infrastructure knowledge and experience, required for a leading private sector business based in Melksham.

The role sits in the wider (Global) IT Architecture and Strategy team, which is accountable for the design, implementation and 3rd line support of the company Infrastructure.

The following spec covers working with suppliers who provide our global infrastructure and all related technologies used various data centres and communications.

General responsibilities: -

  • Support on-premise IT infrastructure
  • Support Global and Cloud infrastructure
  • Support Unified communications systems.
  • Engage with 3rd party infrastructure suppliers ensuring on-going system performance
  • Contribute to office refurbishments, including LAN, WAN, SDWAN, Unified Comms, Server, Storage and computer room layout
  • Create and maintain technical project documentation

Skills and experience required: -

  • Cisco networking hardware and software: LAN, WAN, WLAN technologies.
  • Server infrastructure, virtualization and hyperconvergence
  • Wireless network technologies
  • M365
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Cisco Unified Communications
  • Use of tools eg Wireshark to troubleshoot network and service performance issues.
  • Use of tools eg Solarwinds or Splunk to monitor and manage network performance.
  • Encryption & security protocols, methods and techniques.
  • Copper & fibre cabling protocols, management and patching techniques.
  • Knowledge of VoIP standards, protocols video conferencing over IP.
