Systems Engineer Team Lead (Modelling & Tools) (Permanent)

Location: Gloucestershire Country: UK Rate: £50k - £55k per annum + Exceptional Package
 

Position Available: Systems Engineer Team Lead (Modelling & Tools)

Location: Gloucestershire (Hybrid) & Dynamic Working Hours

Salary: Up to £55,000 + Paid Overtime & Company Bonus & Very Good Pension Package

Experience needed: Experience of systems engineering within a complex, high-technology engineering industry eg defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics and similar. We are looking for someone with a background in mathematical modelling and coding using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink who also has experience in model verification & validation, configuration control and release processes. Any prior experience of leading a team would be a bonus, although not essential.

We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Electro-Optical (EO) Seekers & Sensors Department as the Lead for our Modelling and Tools team.

The work is broad, multifaceted, varied and dynamically changing. You will work within a highly skilled and experienced team that will support you in delivering our commitments. We will work with you to develop your skill, knowledge and experience, as well as supporting your professional development, all while ensuring a good work-life balance.

What we need from you:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Physics, Electronics, Systems, Mathematics, Aerospace or similar)
  • Experience in a relevant engineering industry
  • Experience with good systems engineering practices
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to plan and control your work

A well-rounded Systems Engineer with experience across the full life cycle, including:

  • A background in mathematical modelling and coding using tools such as MathWorks MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience in model verification & validation, configuration control and release processes.
  • Strong logical and analytical skills to address the technical nature of the work
  • Team Leadership and People Management skills, or a desire to take on this responsibility

Additionally, any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Understanding of Electro-Optical radiation, propagation and detection principles, in particular in the infra-red waveband
  • Experience of managing engineering work packages to deliver value outcomes, including co-ordination of other engineering disciplines and subject matter experts
  • Experience of working in AGILE teams and applying AGILE frameworks
