Infrastructure/Server Engineer (Contract)
Location: North London Country: UK Rate: £250 per day
We are currently recruiting for a Infrastructure/Server Engineer for a well established orgsnisaiotn in North London. This role is responsible for implementing, supporting and maintaining the organisations server and storage infrastructure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide lead technical expertise in Linux server support as well as assisting the team with elements off Windows Server support.
- Provide technical expertise for VMware, VMware Horizon and SAN and NAS storage.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for server and storage infrastructure.
- Prove expertise in server and storage backup taking into account special requirements for example database backup; own and lead on backup of all infrastructure systems.
- Use Scripting wherever possible to automate routine tasks; document scripts in a central register so that colleagues understand what is in operation.
- Ensure that there is an effective automated continual and daily monitoring systems for all server and storage infrastructure components.
- Document all Servers and storage systems, describing their physical and logical implementation, admin and service accounts, security controls, applications installed, and all dependencies.
Key skills required:
- MCSE or Linux equivalent.
- Advanced working knowledge of Active Directory and/or LDAP/Radius, DFS, GPO, FSMO
- Backup technologies: VEEM, Backup Exec or equivalent, replication and DR
- Security hardening principles in line with CIS industry benchmarks
- Secure Server Connectivity: TLS, PKI, CA
- Ability to produce complex scripts, preferably PowerShell, batch files, server clustering
- SQL Server and/or MySQL/PostgreSQL
