Our client:

Do you want to work for an organisation that public service is at the heart of what they do? Our client, a future-focused government organisation is looking for a Service Designer to join through an exciting period of growth!

The Role:

The Service Designer role is newly created within the Technology and Business Services Team. You will be working closely with Business Solutions to embed best practice service design methodology across all Digital Services.

You will work closely with the Digital Transformation programme teams to ensure our client is able to prepare and successfully complete Digital Service Standard Assessments for their new Web and Digital Services. Another part of this, our client is introducing a new Case Management System which requires an experienced Service Designer to design and deliver a customer centred, efficient and secure case management system solution.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders, ICT colleagues and third-party suppliers, with the ability to manage the output of others to strict deadlines.

You will also be responsible for understanding user needs and policy goals to support strategy and decision making, and experienced at visualising whole services both end-to-end and front-to-back, across business areas, to reduce or remove issues and problems. You will work in a multidisciplinary team, to deliver world-class, user-centred services that help the government transform the way it delivers services so they are more efficient, simpler, faster and easier to use.

Key responsibilities;

  • Work closely with the Digital Markets Unit to develop their internal and external services
  • Use a variety of prototyping methods to help the Business understand what new Digital Services and functions visualise about new systems and supporting processes
  • Share best practice service design and deliver methods and coach others in the Technology Team
  • Look at strategic service design end to end
  • Work with internal customers to create new Market Order web services. There are over 200 Market Orders that are overseen by our client of which only 1 is currently available as a Digital Service

Your background;

  • Expert in design thinking and can guide stakeholders and the technology team to see and think about the service or technical solution as a part of a bigger, human-centered picture
  • Experience working within the public sector
  • Expertise in Service Design Methods including prototyping
  • Proven ability of successfully managing and delivering multiple IT projects, using both waterfall and agile project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to communicate technical information to stakeholders and technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
