QA Engineer (Permanent)

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Country: UK Rate: £30k - £50k per annum + Benefits
 

QA engineer opportunity to join a Automation Technology Specialist to work with other talented software professionals in the implementation of the QA strategy. The organisation uses manual QA testing practices along with automation and modern agile test principles to improve product quality and reduce lead times. We are looking for a forward-thinking, enthusiastic professional, with extensive experience of manual testing in the areas of Web, Mobile, Database and XML file testing.

QA Engineer - Fully Remote - Up to £50,000

The candidate must be energetic, passionate and promote 'shift-left' consideration of acceptance criteria to the very start of the development cycle, as such they must be capable of thinking up scenarios based on the criteria provided to aid the development team in ensuring full automation coverage of features developed.

Your duties will include:

  • Contribution to product quality though implementation of agile QA principles.
  • Maintain QA and UAT test plans
  • Write manual tests
  • Collaborate with developers on scenarios for automated tests
  • Documentation of Acceptance Criteria using suitable notation techniques
  • Perform hands-on manual/exploratory testing
  • Perform tests on new types of lock and locker user interfaces and their associated firmware
  • Own the various test/QA environments in collaboration with the rest of the Technology team
  • Working with internal and external customers to complete QA and UA test plans

You will be fully supported in your duties but will be expected to be an expert when managing your QA work. All technical team members are remotely connected, and communication is fully established, effective and easy.

The Person

The successful candidate will be an experienced agile test engineer with a demonstrable track record of agile testing and test automation within a strong software development team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required, as is a genuine interest and passion for high quality software delivery. In addition, you will be responsible for developing and supporting the automated testing frameworks.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Solid understanding and experience of the agile software development lifecycle, and agile testing.
  • Possess outstanding QA testing skills, including test case design, and test planning.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be self-disciplined and reliable, trusted to work unsupervised.
  • Enjoy working with a disciplined team of talented technical experts, striving to achieve the very highest quality of software delivery.
  • Be enthusiastic and pro-active in learning the technologies and capabilities of businesses existing software.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing (or equivalent ISEB)
  • At least 5 years extensive current experience of testing API's, Websites, Mobile Applications and XML Files (Creation\Editing\Processing)
  • Demonstrable technical skills or experience with test plan management.
  • Demonstrable skills in database querying (SQL skills)
  • Demonstrable use of Postman
  • Experience working with Behaviour Driven Development

Your duties will also include:

  • Manual testing of various systems.
  • Reporting of/updating of issues within Jira.
  • Managing your workload and delivering against agreed deadlines.
  • Provide support investigating test/production issues with systems.
