OT Solutions Architect

Description:

This role is for an experienced Solution Architect to work on the Cyber Resilience Programme that is securing the operational technology estate that supports the business. This programme is providing a consistent set of security solutions, filling capability gaps and building resilience into our existing systems. The remit will cover a range of technology areas, with the main focus being on security, infrastructure, hybrid system hosting and networking. The role will report to the Lead Architect as part of the Transmission Architecture Team. 

Experience:

• The role will operate across multiple projects, responsible for the end to end solution definition and agreement. Well managed collaboration with supporting analysts and technical specialists through solution definition will be essential.
• A structured and methodical approach (eg TOGAF) to solutioning, and able to lead discussions and influence stakeholders who are used to operating with less structured approaches.
• A good understanding of the Operational Technology environment (including SCADA, Embedded control systems, control room and remote site operations) and the constraints and issues that need to be considered in planning solutions for it.
• A strong technical background in security solutions and controls, virtualisation, data networks and Real Time systems with an understanding of Azure or AWS services to support project requirements.
• The ability to operate at both a strategic level, and to deliver more detailed designs, with the authority that comes from a deep and broad technical knowledge.
• While the focus will be on higher level solutioning, there is a need to be able to confidently drop into more detailed design when required.
• Experience of working in procurement processes to specify requirements through tenders and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Specific technology/subject experience should ideally cover one or more of IDAM, remote access solutions, SIEM, software defined networks, data integration, NIS standards and hyper convergence.
• Examples of balancing long-term strategic objectives with immediate business imperatives, and contributing to roadmap changes in line with that.
• Experience of both agile and waterfall delivery methods, and an understanding of the priorities and challenges across the full system life cycle.
