Senior UX Designer (Contract)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Country: UK

We are AMS. We are a global total workforce solutions firm; we enable organisations to thrive in an age of constant change by building, re-shaping, and optimising workforces. Our Contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service partner with Tesco Bank to support contingent recruitment hiring.

On behalf of Tesco Bank, AMS are now looking for a Senior UX Designer based in Edinburgh (Remote) for an initial contract length of 6 months.

Tesco Bank prides itself on their range of simple and convenient retail banking and insurance products designed specifically to meet the needs of Tesco customers. They believe that every little help makes a big difference, and by putting the customer first and rewarding their loyalty, they are offering something they believe every bank should.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work already underway to redesign our security journeys on the web and in the Tesco Bank mobile app as part of a technical (Back End provider) change.
  • Picking up work and output from a previous designer to carry forward, with a roughly even split of testing + iterating on the UI designs.
  • Working with usertesting.com + Figma as our core design tools.
  • This is not a "creative" UI design role, it's working with an established brand and design system.
  • The focus is on making an inherently complex domain, as simple as possible for users.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Highly experienced UX/UI Designer.
  • High competence in producing production ready UI visuals, including prototyping, and solid understanding of accessibility, etc.
  • Solid experience designing for the web and also native mobile apps, with an understanding of native patterns and differences between iOS + Android etc.
  • Solid experience doing research and testing, including user interviews etc, to test designs with users.
  • Confident working with complexity, enjoys making sense of it, and making it simple for users.
  • Confident leading and owning the work as the sole UX designer on the project (with support from a wider team inc. a Service Designer).
  • Experienced working with an established Design System.
