Database Engineer (Permanent)
Location: Bournemouth and Remote Country: UK Rate: £70k + package
 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Multi-Value or NF2 Database Specialist to join a great team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-value or NF2 database systems, coupled with proficiency in Python and Java programming languages. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work on complex database projects and contribute to the development of the data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and maintain multi-value or NF2 database systems to support business operations.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements and design database solutions that meet business needs.
  3. Implement database schemas, data models, and access controls to ensure data integrity and security.
  4. Develop custom scripts and applications in Python and Java for database management, automation, and integration.
  5. Optimise database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimisation techniques.
  6. Monitor database systems for performance, availability, and reliability, and implement proactive measures to address issues.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems in a timely manner.
  8. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in multi-value and NF2 database management.
  9. Document database designs, configurations, and processes for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  10. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience working with multi-value or NF2 database systems, such as Pick, D3, Universe, or jBASE.
  3. Strong proficiency in Python and Java programming languages.
  4. Solid understanding of database concepts, including normalisation, indexing, and query optimisation.
  5. Experience with database design, implementation, and administration.
  6. Familiarity with database integration techniques and tools.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  10. Certifications in relevant database technologies are a plus.
