My client, a leading finance institution, is searching for a Faster Payment Scheme Engineer (FPS)/Architect to join them as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will have a good experience with Faster payments or other instant payment gateways.

This role will be hybrid - twice a week in Edinburgh and Inside IR35

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the FPS gateway infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance. Additionally, you will lead the integration of the FPS gateway with internal systems and external partners, ensuring seamless and secure communication.

  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining payment gateways, with a focus on Faster Payments Scheme (FPS) or other instant payment systems.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of payment protocols and standards such as ISO 20022, ISO8583, and ISO8583 to ISO20022 conversion libraries/mapping.
  • Experience with message queuing systems (eg, Kafka, RabbitMQ) and stream processing frameworks (eg, Kafka Streams).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
