Data Engineer (Contract)

Location: Northamptonshire Country: UK Rate: £400.0 - £450.0 per day

You will be working for a large, well-known organisation who are within the banking and financial sectors.

Your new role

The client are looking for a Data Engineer to join the team and work specifically on a Legacy replacement project within the organisation. The role requires an individual with experience in creating data migration strategies from multiple and varied data sources, as well as experience with data visualisation tools. The ideal candidate will have expertise in OLAP and database tools, Datamodelling, and an understanding of API's, API endpoints and presentation and processing of data.

  • Create Logical and Physical data Models.
  • Create a data catalogue to support creation of data models to enable the extraction, transformation and loading of data.
  • Create data migration strategy from multiple and varied data sources and create any required databases and/or tables in Azure.
  • Providing Support with advice relating to data cleansing activities.
  • Analysis of data to inform solution designs and plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to deliver the full DevSecOps life cycle including the design, coding, test, build, QA, deployment and monitoring of products and services created for and as of part of this project.
  • Work effectively with product and engineering management to translate business technical requirements into well-defined user stories & tasks.
  • Lead group discussions on system design and work with Product Managers to drive value.
  • Identify areas for improvement and support with a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Documentation of all aspects of work in accordance with the organisation's documentation standards & storage of documents in line with the project.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Expert in OLAP and Database tools (OLAP tools; BusinessObjects, Microsoft Analysis Services
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity of API's, API end points and presentation and processing of data.
  • Experience using Azure's
  • Experience in extracting, transforming and loading data (using tools such as SQL, NOSQL, Excel)
  • Experience of data migration strategies from Legacy systems + reporting
  • Experience of integration with third parties

What you'll get in return
A contract role lasting role for an initial period of six months with the potential for extension. The role is paying £400 - £450 per day and is outside IR35. The role is based in Northamptonshire with hybrid working on offer.
