Cloud Architect (Contract)

Cloud Architect

Gibbs Hybrid are supporting a world leading IT services client in their search for an experienced Cloud Architect for their Banking sector client. Experience in banking sector is preferred.

Role title: Cloud Architect
Rate Inside IR35 -£485 p/day
Location- Twice a week in Northampton/Radbroke hall

Solutions Development
* Work iteratively with business and technology stakeholders to design modern, cost-effective technology solutions to solve business problems
* Create quality architecture artefacts (prototypes, designs, diagrams, whitepapers) to support stakeholder approvals and enable engineering delivery.
* Ensure proposed solutions are aligned to Barclay's strategies, architectural patterns and policies.
* Ensure that delivered outcomes are consistent with the approved solution design and that designs are properly adjusted and managed in response to significant change requests.
* Translate technical concepts between software engineering, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all.

Advice and Guidance
* Provide clear, commercially-informed technical guidance and rationale to business stakeholders on technology choices and solutions.
* Provide constructive challenge and support to peers and other colleagues.
* Seek input and knowledge from others.
* Support planning and road mapping activities so that interdependencies are understood.
* Maintain and share expertise on relevant protocols, regulations, standards and best-practices

Strategy Development
* Recommend, communicate and promote the technology strategy required to meet the business vision.
* Create, refine and critically evaluate patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and business proposals.
* Work with CTO to develop a robust IT Strategy for the relevant business area.
* Identify problems that should be solved at enterprise level and recommend solutions that can be used across the organization.
* Maintain a strong awareness of new and emerging technologies, frameworks, patterns, wider industry trends and best practices.
* Build and foster relationships with suppliers, partners and relevant industry bodies.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership
* Proactively engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as a positive and constructive professional.
* Work with Platform, Software and Enterprise Architecture colleagues to represent technology to senior business stakeholders.
* Positively contribute to continuous improvement and strengthening Barclay's inclusive culture.

Decision-making and Problem Solving
* Understand, document and clearly articulate problem statements for consideration.
* Provide structured evaluation of solution options along with recommendation of preferred solution and rationale.
* Coordinate decision-making forums and drive consensus to arrive at an agreed, approved solution.

Risk and Control
* Carry out all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework
* Understand governance frameworks and drive solutions through technical governance.

Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
* University qualification in computing, digital or technology related subjects.
* Knowledge of cloud solutions including AWS, Azure, GCP.
* Knowledge of enterprise container platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, EKS and OpenShift.
* Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available, resilient performant solutions.
* Experience with API design including RESTful (OAS2/3, RAML), SOAP, gRPC, GraphQL
* Experience with design tools and modelling languages such as UML, Archimate, Abacus.
* Experience of working in an Agile environment.
* Knowledge of architectural design patterns and concepts including MVC and domain-driven design.
* Knowledge of different data processing platforms including Oracle and NoSQL databases.
* Knowledge of messaging systems and enterprise service bus solutions including Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS.
* Awareness of data management concerns including data life cycle, size, accuracy, security, redundancy, importance, and concurrency.
* Awareness of test automation platforms, frameworks and tools.
* Awareness of Dev Ops practices.
* Awareness of automated delivery pipelines.
