General Maintenance Operative

As a General Maintenance Operative, you will Contribute to an effective and efficient premises & facilities service to support the Group's business activities, focusing on reactive and proactive general maintenance. Responsible for contributing to the smooth operation of the in-house premises & facilities maintenance function, providing a high level of service for People's Partnership colleagues.

Ensuring that the business maintains a safe and compliant working environment for colleagues and visitors in line with regulatory and Company policies. Actively participate in the overall performance and development of the Premises & Facilities function.

Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the Head of Workplace/Facilities Co-ordinator to supervise third-party contractors where applicable.
  • Confirmation that third party contractors work is completed and reporting any issues to the Facilities Co-ordinator/Head of Workplace
  • Working with the Head of Workplace and facilities team in collaborating and executing various facilities projects throughout the premises.
  • Obtaining quotations from third-party suppliers in line with the Company's tendering process and maintaining a cost-efficient approach to all purchasing.
  • Reviewing third party Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and reporting any concerns to the Facilities Co-ordinator/Head of Workplace.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of external areas/grounds of the premises in between maintenance visits with particular focus on Autum and Winter months.
  • Carrying out light touch fabric repairs and painting and decorating where necessary.
  • Effective and timely management of in-house premises & facilities Service Desk tickets, ensuring that regular communication with colleagues and updating tickets with progress reports.
  • Displaying a hands-on, can-do and proactive maintenance presence across all premises and providing regular reports to the Head of Workplace on areas that require attention/spend.
  • Working with Facilities team to set up and reset Collaboration Rooms in line with the specified layouts.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within a corporate Facilities or Building Services environment.
  • Working as part of a team desirable.
  • Multi-skilled in commercial maintenance
  • Knowledge and understanding of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) work.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in their work.
  • Basic experience of MS Office products/computer literate.
  • Basic Excel knowledge (reports & spreadsheets).
  • Strong awareness of health & safety and statutory regulations
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent as a minimum.
