Overview

Pediatric Neurology NP/PA is responsible for providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients with a range of neurological conditions. This role involves conducting detailed evaluations, interpreting diagnostic studies, formulating treatment plans, and offering ongoing education and support to patients and their families. Conditions commonly managed include epilepsy, headaches, neuromuscular disorders, developmental delays, and other complex neurological issues.

This position is a day-shift role, Monday through Friday, with a primary focus inpatient consultation. The provider will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other specialists to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate documentation, communicating effectively with care teams, and contributing to care strategies designed to enhance patient outcomes.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Team members are trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Team members are trained and assigned to manage the practice\'s patient population. Participates in the practice\'s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to pediatric neurology patients, including detailed evaluations and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans with ongoing education and support for patients and families.
  • Manage conditions such as epilepsy, headaches, neuromuscular disorders, developmental delays, and other complex neurological issues.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other specialists to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and effective communication with care teams.
  • Contribute to care strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes and participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Engage in inpatient consultation as needed and support the care team in a day-shift schedule.
Education
  • Required: Completion of Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited school with acute care certification OR completion of Physician Assistant program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistants; BS/BA required.
  • Preferred: Minimum 2 years of pediatric experience is a plus.
Position Requirements: License/Certification/Registration
  • Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. Eligibility to sit for certification in the area of specialty. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. PALS certification kept current.
  • The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
