Rush University Medical Center and the Department of Internal Medicine is currently recruiting for an Interventional Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team. This provider will be the fourth member of the Interventional APP team at Rush's downtown Chicago campus functioning on a four-day, 10-hr schedule.
- Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Interventional Gastroenterology is preferred.
- Relevant RN experience may be considered.
Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With our Director of Advanced Practice and 27 Lead APPs across the system, Rush's vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice nurse (APN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards. Responsibilities:
Clinical
Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients.
Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans
Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice
Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures
Provides clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record.
Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations
Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies
Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
Professional
Works collaboratively with his/her collaborating/supervising physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
Acts as an advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the physician assistant profession
Participates in all required provider activities as outlined in the RUMC Medical Staff Bylaws.

Required Job Qualifications:
Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure.
Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program.
Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
BLS certification.
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure.
Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program.
The APN's education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP's job role, setting, responsibility and patient population.
Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing.
BLS certification.
Demonstrates competency in all areas of APP practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.
Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.
Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
