The Opportunity:Avantor is looking for a people-focused and leading-by-example Laboratory Service Lead to join our site in Cambridge, UK. In this role you'll take ownership of leading 15 associates, located at the Discovery Centre.

This role will be a full-time permanent position based in brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (flexible)The Team You'll step out of operational role and manage a team of Laboratory Technicians, who are responsible for supporting laboratory operations - waste management, equipment up-keep and stock management.

You'll be part of established team of 4 knowledgeable, expert Service Leads, who are phenomenal team-players and share the same values. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry. What we're looking for Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in science-related field or equivalent experienceExperience: Recent experience as a line manager of large team, in pharmaceutical/life-science environments preferable, or managing associates in matrix environment3-5 years of experience in laboratory, in hands-on science roleProject leading/managing experienceUnderstanding of H&S regulations in laboratory environmentHow you'll thrive and create an impact Line management of Laboratory Technicians - conducting 1-2-1's, holiday allocations, probation review, annual performance review for each associate, along with quarterly check ins and management of any performance issues Responsibility of all aspects of Health and Safety (including audits and GAMBA walks) and regulatory compliance Planning time throughout the day and managing workload priorities, coordination, and execution of the daily operational work for the scientific support team Regular business meetings with customer to present data including KPI's data capture along with analysis of any deviations Creation, maintenance and updating relevant documentation in support of service delivery compliance and training eg, work instructions, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and training records Disclaimer:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
